This tetraptych with its red ochre background depicts the mudflats in which we find mangroves and mud crabs. There are at least 70 different species of crustaceans in Australian mangroves, of which about two-thirds are crabs and the rest prawns and shrimps. Over 70 species of fish spend some of their time in Australian mangrove creeks and rivers. Mudskippers are one of the few fish which live only on tropical mangrove shores.
