This painting was inspired by an icon of our region and I love to visit the village in the rainforest – Kuranda. With its earthy hues, the painting features the road to Kuranda in the middle, the gondolas of the skyrail on the left and the train tracks on the right. The skyrail rainforest cableway takes you over world heritage listed rainforest canopy deep into the rainforest from Smithfield near Cairns to Kuranda.

Gliding just above the rainforest, you can hear the rainforest sounds and see its beauty. Kuranda is a picturesque village nestled in the rainforest and you can also reach it by road or by the Kuranda Heritage Train. The train route winds along the Kuranda Range and takes in the breath-taking scenery of The Barron Falls.Kuranda Village is well-known for arts and crafts including Indigenous artefacts and the Butterfly Sanctuary, Koala Gardens, Rainforestation Nature Park, Birdworld and the Aviary.
