I am part of three tribes and one of them is Wadjanbarra Yidinji. We are the custodians of the low-lying forest between the mountains of the Atherton Tablelands. We are one of the eight clans of the Yidinji nation. Wadjan means “forest” and barra means “people belonging to.” We are the protectors of the rainforest.

I love the Atherton Tablelands and I encourage people to visit it and enjoy the beautiful surroundings of mountains, lakes and waterfalls. This is an abstract painting showing patterns, and interesting designs inspired by the landscape.

A canopy of trees converges to bring a covering over walkabout tracks. Ancient journeys from waterholes to waterholes are depicted. Shades of sunrise and sunset and their varying colours and interactions with the land inspire me and emerge from the painting.
